Okay, I know I am going off on a tangent after my attempted China intervention but now that McCain has added another trophy wife to his ongoing collection you have to ask what the hell the choice of Sarah Palin was about. If you’re a Republican you might solider on and smirk as you comment what a great choice she was. The cynical will point out this was a blatant effort to grab the disaffected Hillary supporters and to shore up McCain’s sagging conservative credentials. The fact that she has been governor for less than two years for a state that has a smaller population than my local town doesn’t matter I guess. The fact that John McCain has only spoken to her once previously doesn’t matter either. She’s ready to go because John said so!
So how many Hillary supporters will she garner in November? Well, I don’t think the demographics work out other her being a woman. After all, she is pro-life, gun supporting, meat eating conservative, not exactly Hilary’s core constituency. She does pose a big problem for Joe Biden however. Biden gets to debate her and men usually don’t fare well in a debate with a woman. If he presses too hard the press will get on him for being a bully as Palin sheds a few tears a la Hillary. And frankly, after watching Joe talk recently, he has lost a few miles per hour on his fastball!
So Obama has a problem: attack Palin too hard and they will turn a lot of people off. If they don’t attack McCain gets to press his experience advantage over Obama and Obama is relegated to his 4 more years of Bush rhetorical attack.
The answer to the Obama Palin dilemma? Hilary Clinton. If Hilary is a good trooper she can go to the attack, after of course she gives Sarah the obligatory congratulatory phone call. Being a woman, yes we are still a very sexist society if you haven’t figured that out yet, she can really open up the big guns on Sarah pointing out the glaring differences between her and Palin other than, of course, the genitals.
Will Hillary do it? I always agreed with the Lady Macbeth image of Hillary and wonder if she will remain eerily quiet during the campaign in the hope that somehow McCain wins and proves to be another failed extension of the Bush legacy. That way in 2012, at a ripe age of 65, she can return to her party as their savior after Obama fever has died and been given the appropriate postmortem.
In case you think I’m a Obama supporter, well think again. I was enthusiastic back of McCain in 2000 and I feel the country has suffered deeply by going with the idiot Bush. Why? Because McCain was the only politician I know of in modern times that mentioned the root of all government evil and that is political patronage. In 2008 I barely recognize the guy and his selection of Palin leaves me speechless. I had hoped for Romney. Why? Because he could lead the country just like Biden could if events should require. Sure, Romney is a boring white bread suit but there is certain value to a known quantity and he really got a bad rap from the Bible thumpers because he was…yikes a Mormon!
What’s Palin? Even a bigger unknown than Obama. This should get interesting as the harsh glare of the media shines upon her and her first dude husband. And what will Hillary do?
Great News! Flores Girl:The Children God Forgot is now available as a free ebook novel on the iPhone

Score one for the Republicans! Everyone must jump on the McCain and Palin Ticket! What could be more exciting than these two running together?
When she first burst onto the scene I liked her, but that admiration has waned iftnsiicangly and by one simple action on her part. That action? Sticking close to McCain. That alone speaks volumes.I don’t froth rabidly at the mouth with hate as some people do (not necessarily here, but in general), but I DO think she’s way too polarizing to win back the WH if she’s running. One name I’m not seeing but think he bears watching is Herman Cain-black, conservative, former CEO of CocaCola(run a business), older, not wet behind the ears, highly articulate, definitely outspoken. I think a ticket of him and Alan West has the potential to wipe the Obama floor with Obama. And the potential to shut these people up who insist on calling conservatives racists.
Sorry Alyssa, I don’t share your enthusiasm at all. Who the hell is Sarah Palin and why should this relative unknown be this close to the presidency? Being a McCain supporter this puts me in a hell of a spot. I certainly am not into the cult of personality that surrounds Obama and my reservations regarding him were about the same issue. Who is Obama?
Bummer of a last name and worse you probably watched the Beijing Olympics!
Erik John Bertel
I am delighted with this choice and as a former Hillary supporter will back it.
So Tom you’re a Hilary supporter, and I would assume pro-choice and pro-gun control since that is the Hilary demographics but now you’re okay with this conservative VP choice by McCain because she has (XX) chromosomes? Doesn’t make sense and I am a McCain supporter.
I don’t know about the rest of the readers of this blog but I smell more Swiftboating from the Republicans. Are you one of the many Republican operatives that are seeding seeds of discontent among the Hilary supporters wherever you can?
Anyway, Hilary can put this to rest with several sharp comments about Palin, you know along the lines of the famous comment about Dan Qyuale from Bentsen that went “Senator, you’re no Jack Kennedy”
“Governor, you’re no Hilary!”
Will she?
This is a comment from above:
“The fact that she has been governor for less than two years for a state that has a smaller population than my local town doesn’t matter I guess. ”
Response: The state of Alaska is twice the size of Texas. Study your geography.
Also the debate on Sarah Palin response to the George Bush doctrine – it is Washington lingo–even the newspaper reporters defended her as they never heard it before.
Please go to Wickipedia the free encyclopedia to get the FACTS.
Thank you.
Marie,
Please learn to read before referencing Wikipedia otherwise you’re gonna hurt yourself. Fact, Alaska has a population of 670,000 and my local town has just as many occupants. Maybe they do things differently in Alaska, maybe they count trees and moose however, if I remember my elementary social studies correctly, population is definitely not the same demographic statistic as acreage but hey you just proved my point about the mentality of Sarah’s supporters. Secondly, the Bush Doctrine is not that esoteric and damn if you want to be within a heartbeat of the presidency the least you can do is to do your homework! She’s a lightweight like Bush albeit a more attractive one.
I’m a McCain supportee and very impressed with Sarah Palin. Although I would have voted for McCain with or without Sarah, I must admit I feel much more excited about this race. I really feel like I can relate to her as many do.
About those of you who think Hillary supporters will not support the McCain ticket… Well, I have 2 friends of mine that were Hillary supporters who will now vote for the McCain / Palin ticket. They are liberal conservatives (will go either way). They simply feel they cannot trust Obama. Hillary vs Sarah is not only about pro-life, pro-gun. Most woman surveyed put the Economy and National Security way above their lists of priorities. Pro-Choice was rated just 3% on a list of priorities.
In response to some bringing up the Bush Doctrine, Bill Reilly admitted himself, he would have answered it incorrectly and I think most of you would agree Bill is a pretty Saavy guy.
It was explained that it was a “trick” question since the Bush Doctrine is not written anywhere. Charles Gibson was only referring to “preemptive strike”. The fact is that it consists of 4 components:
1) Democracy as being the only option
2) Pre-emptive Strike
3) Any nations that harbor terrorists will be considered terrorists
4) Rid the world of terrorists
Charles Gibson wanted to hear #2 as an answer and she answered #4.
before, if being a handicapper could get it done, Jimmy the Greek sulhod have been POTUS And Rob, you miss the point entirely, yes, she IS a cheerleader, and SHE influences votes EVERYWHERE, read the comments from some right here She isn’t the voter, she is THE VOTE, and blind loyalists are lining up everywhere, ready to follow her off the cliff That b*tch is taking America for a ride, and the time to stop her is NOW Otherwise, you better get ready to call Obama SIR He’ll beat her ass like he beat her and McCain, even the Dems that are turned against him will line back up if Palin is the GOP candidate in 2012 WAKE UP AMERICA!
Actually I liked the old McCain in 2000 who had no allegiance to the party bosses. Of course, he got swift boated in the Carolina primaries by the present clown in the White House and his political operatives and this country has been on downward spiral ever since. Back then, McCain was such a formidable force for change that even some Democrats were hoping he would switch parties after his defeat in the primaries. This guy in 2008 I barley recognize, especially with all of the lobbyists running his campaign but I have the hope if he does get in he is just ornery enough to bite the asses of liberals and conservatives alike. Obama I just don’t have a feel for and I would be hesitant to support him but Sarah’s selection as VP now causes me to reevaluate my thinking.
Now to your other point, first, I didn’t know Bill O Reilly was now the gold standard for intellectual prowess but that’s okay if that works for you. O Reilly has a slight independent streak which means he kisses conservative tush whenever possible but at least he doesn’t have his entire head up there like Rush. If you buy this trick question argument and I don’t, then Sarah should have challenged Charlie on the definition rather than trying to wiggle her way out of responding to the question. And why didn’t she do that? Because she got caught cramming for her exam, it was so obvious.
I’m sorry we just had eight years of an intellectually challenged president that said he didn’t read the papers and who went entirely with his gut and just look at the end result: a five year old war in Iraq and the Muslim fundamentalists threatening to take over Afghanistan, Pakistan with Bin Laden still alive and free in a cave somewhere. Am I asking too much to have a president that is at least as smart as the bad guys?
So just watch the interview again, her facial response is very enlightening. She’s as light as a feather, lighter than Obama. That’s great for a Buddhist but lousy for a leader. Anyway, I am writing a blog on this argument so thanks for your contribution.
just a quick hello and congratulations to your nice website ! i’ll visit you again!
sdkar:Chris ChristieAllen WestBobby JindalMike PenceMichelle BachmannMy 6 year old grandson, anoyne in the GOP is, for the most part, is going to do a better job than Obama, but I am NOT at ALL convinced that Palin would be any better than Obama, and could be, quite possibly be, an even bigger disaster I am sure there are several more in the GOP that can beat Obama. Palin guarantees him a win, or a win for Hillary if she ran against Obama for the Dem nomination and won And the thought of another Clinton in the White House makes me sick!P.S. Boehner?? Might be looking at it, and he wouldn’t be a bad POTUS I believe.. I’d damned sure vote for him over Palin
It´s a very good website you have here,
to meshow dlitaes 9:35 PM (4 minutes ago) I support you on most views but you are off on this. Sarah Palin is strongly supported by many members of the Republican Party and for you as a Tea Party activist to denounce her is the beginning of the decline of the Republican Party for 2012. If you succeed in turning the Tea party against Sarah you might as well vote for Obama as that will be the end result. I am apaled that any one from the Tea Party would start a blog like this and damage the chances this country has of getting a Republican President. Unless I see a retraction please remove my name from your email.Mr. Ashwander, NOWHERE in this post did I mention the TEA Party, or MY association with it in ANY way.. You Sir, can GO TO HELL!If your desire is to see a Republican President, then YOU are as much a part of the problem as you accuse me of being When we have a Conservative, NOT a Republican, or Dem, or Libertarian, but a true America 1st Conservative, then we have a GREAT POTUS Palin can’t spell Conservative, but she pretends to BE one If I weren’t trying to restrain myself, I would tell you to f**k off, but since I’m trying to be semi-civil with you and your DEMAND that I retract my post, thus depriving me of MY 1st Amendment RIGHT, I won’t tell you to f**k off The day YOU start paying MY bills, the day I post this on a TEA Party site, the day I lose my capacity to post MY way on MY blog, then you can tell me what to do, until such time, F**K OFF Oops
